My Friuli
About Friuli Region
As a geographical and spiritual entity, my Friuli begins in Via Runcis, and from there it broadens out to the Piazza of San Giovanni, slowly encompassing the whole of San Giovanni, Casarsa, Prodolone, San Vito, San Martino, Valvasone…and all those villages and towns that sit astride the Tagliamento River and reach out to the end of the world.
- mulberry tree
The mulberry tree, much loved by the silkworm, used to be a common feature in the cjamps of Casarsa and area in the days of my youth. It is now almost nowhere to be seen—except in my remote Ashcroft garden.
