Pronunciation
Vowels are sounded in much the same way as they are in Italian. As in Italian, the vowels used in Friulian tend to be primary vowels: i-e-a-o-u, pronounced respectively i as in see, e as in met, a as in father, o as in let, and u as in loo.
Consonants also are sounded as in Italian, with these notable exceptions: s as in stay, š as in horizon, j as in young, and cj as in chat.
